You’re already familiar with our top-of-the-line AoIP mixing consoles, the Axia Quasar XR and Quasar SR. These consoles build on the success of our groundbreaking Fusion console by introducing upgraded audio shaping tools, sophisticated workflow features, and dynamic visual surface cues, all within a stunning new design. This design equips operators with everything they need to produce outstanding radio programs. The Quasar series has been so well-received that it has won five awards from major trade publications for its exceptional design and ergonomics.
Now, with the release of the latest v3.0 surface and engine software update, the Quasar consoles are set to become even more impressive. This update introduces a host of new features, enhancements, and improvements designed to elevate the user experience. Let’s explore these exciting new tools and functionalities.
Updated AES67 Functionality
The Quasar consoles are an integral part of the Axia Livewire+ AoIP ecosystem, ensuring a seamless experience for all-Axia setups. With the v3.0 update, Quasar now offers full AES67 compliance across all engine inputs and outputs, including monitoring I/Os. This ensures complete interoperability with a wide variety of third-party devices adhering to the AES67 standard. Additionally, the update includes PTP (Precision Time Protocol) synchronization, further enhancing the system’s reliability and accuracy.
Audio Processing and Routing Features
v3.0 introduces a plethora of processing and routing features that empower users with unprecedented control over their audio environment. Key additions include:
- ■ DSP-based Processing. Users can now apply filters, dynamics processing, and True Peak limiting on Program 1-4, Record, and Phone buses  – a comprehensive toolkit for audio manipulation. Additionally, every input channel now features a dedicated low-latency peak limiter.
- â– Â Variable Position Insert Sends. Operators get greater flexibility with variable position insert sends from every input channel. Use them for pre-fader/post-processing, external effects, post-fader direct sends to codecs, or creating custom mix-minuses.
- ■ Variable Position Insert Returns. Well you can’t have one without the other, can you? Variable position insert returns to every input channel add yet another layer of versatility to audio routing options.
- â– Â Phase and Pan Controls. Each of the five inputs on every VMIX instance now includes phase and pan controls for finer control over audio spatialization.
- â– Â VMIX Controller Mode. The introduction of the “VMIX Controller” mode for MF1-ACC and MPC-ACC Accessory Modules enhances user interaction, providing direct VMIX control right from the mixing surface.
- â– Â New Soft Call Controller. Users can now switch between 8 lines and 12 lines with the new soft call controller on the fly, increasing flexibility should requirements change.
- â– Â Support for Backup Control Surfaces. Quasar v3.0 debuts support for backup control surfaces in Quasar Engine, ensuring uninterrupted operation even in critical situations.
